I can hardly believe my eldest turns 17 this September. Next year, he’s heading overseas for a 12-month student exchange—a journey that will no doubt stretch him, shape him, and grow him in ways I can’t even imagine yet.And while I’m endlessly proud and excited, there’s a part of me that feels like I’m saying goodbye to my baby.

But that’s the beauty of it, isn’t it? Watching them step into their own becoming.

As if that wasn’t enough, he’s also close to publishing his first novel—a full-length manuscript of over 70,000 words, accompanied by more than 50 hand-drawn illustrations, all from his own imagination.His creative spirit leaves me speechless.

I’m not just proud. I’m in awe.This kind of milestone makes me hold the camera—and motherhood—with a little more reverence.
